Good Morning…beautiful sunrise in Iowa City! Thanks to Daddy’s cousin, Julie, for the stunning daffodils for Peanut’s room. We’re learning that slow and steady wins the race for Peanut’s recovery from this illness. We’ll be here for at least a few more days.

Terrific Twos…
Posted by The Dirt Road Home in Sunday, July 20th 2014 under: Family, Peanut
2 peoples responds in this postTerrific twos, tremendous twos, talented twos, tiny twos….anything but terrible twos!!! Our Peanut is now TWO-Years-Old!!!! Generally, people use the term terrible twos to describe the stage in which toddlers begin to assert their independence and develop skills at a rapid speed – no longer a baby, not quite a kid yet! I hate to […]

Peanut Plans a Sleep-Over with her Grandparents
Posted by The Dirt Road Home in Wednesday, April 9th 2014 under: Peanut
No one leave their comment yetAs I was busy writing last Friday’s update on Peanut, she was busy planning (without realizing it) her weekend. See, as I was writing about how well Peanut was doing, she was coming down with a stomach bug. Given Peanut’s condition, we’re always a little hesitant to say it’s the flu or a common stomach […]

Peanut’s April Check-Up
Posted by The Dirt Road Home in Friday, April 4th 2014 under: Peanut
1 comment received so farWhat a difference 6 weeks can make. It’s been 6 weeks since Peanut’s last visit to the UIHC for a check-up. (If you don’t remember the original version, you can find it here.) Peanut has been drinking the green bean/formula recipe for almost a year now with […]

Peanut’s February Check-Up
Posted by The Dirt Road Home in Friday, February 21st 2014 under: Peanut
No one leave their comment yetWednesday may have been Peanut’s best check-up yet. Her GI doctor continues to be pleased with her growth (she’s up to 21 1/2 pounds) and is working on a few changes to her diet to see how she reacts to a formula in her green bean shake that’s not as restrictive. We skipped any blood […]

Charting Peanut’s Progress
Posted by The Dirt Road Home in Monday, January 20th 2014 under: Peanut
No one leave their comment yetWhen it comes to answering the question of how Peanut is doing, there’s a bunch of different factors the DW and I take into account. Her blood work, mental and physical development, diaper “output”, and appetite are just a few of the things we track. The most telling, and easiest to understand, though, would be […]

Uncanny Resemblance
Posted by The Dirt Road Home in Wednesday, January 8th 2014 under: Family, Peanut
No one leave their comment yetEvery parent thinks their baby is the next Einstein, but I really think we’re on to something here… “Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts.” (Sign hanging in Einstein’s office at Princeton)
